    报告摘要:

Selfish mining attack is notorious for obtaining additional rewards, which are disproportionate to the attackers’ mining power in Proof-of-Work blockchains, like Bitcoin. The attack can be carried out by an attacker pool and is theoretically feasible with low mining power thresholds. However, the attack induces a high forking rate, which can be detected by honest miners, who may take countermeasures. Also, incentives to maintain the attacked system may vanish, making the attack meaningless without any reward. We propose a novel selfish mining attack, called hybrid selfish mining attack, which achieves both low forking rates and relatively high additional reward. Simulation results based on a stochastic model (Markov decision process, MDP) show that the hybrid selfish mining attack both performs well in forking rate and relative reward when compared with semi-selfish mining attack. In addition, we analyze the conditions for the implementation, the costs, and the profits of the hybrid selfish mining attack, evaluate against what would be the cost of renting mining power for the current mainstream pools. Results show that the hybrid selfish mining attack is practical and may have an impact on the blockchain. Finally, we propose some countermeasures against our hybrid selfish mining attack.
